Welcome to our newest feature at La Pacha Hostel. The sky hammock! Many thanks to all our friends and volunteers who helped us build it. Español Bienvenidos a nuestra nueva instalación en La Pacha Hostel. La Hamaca del Cielo! Muchas gracias a todos nuestros amigos y voluntarios que ayudaron en la construcción. Meet Manchie, Izzie, Reggie and Baby. Our stars here at La Pacha Hostel and Camping! We love all things goats and these four certainly keep us on our toes. We think our little herd is one of the best reasons to visit us at La Pacha. Whether your are a total goat newbie, goat herder extraordinaire or are just a bit curious, everyone can get involved in this authentic rural experience. When was the last time you milked a goat? Morning Milking Every day at 7am sharp the goats are woken for their daily milking session. One by one each goat's udders are massaged and then milked by hand. Between the three adult goats, about a litre and a half of fresh milk is produced every single day! Following milking the crew are taken out to graze. Try to spot the goats as you make your way around the site. We take them to a different place each day so you never know where they might pop up! Learn about the art of cheese or yoghurt making from goat to table Natural, fresh and healthy
Take the opportunity to sample some of the tastiest milk products produced in Colombia (well we think so anyway!) Try our ever-popular cheese combo, which includes a fresh cheese made right here at La Pacha, crackers and three types of homemade chutney to choose from. The perfect afternoon snack to accompany some La Pacha coffee. Taste sensations don’t get fresher than this! La Pacha Hostel is currently rated No. 1 out of 50 Hostels in San Gil by Tripadvisor. Very Proud!
We have recently completed our "Birds of La Pacha" Powerpoint presentation. We have identified over 70 species of birds on the farm. Simply download WPS Office to your phone and then download the presentation here, and you can wander around the farm looking for them. The presentation features photos and audio so you can identify them by sight or sound. Lookout for the extremely rare Niceforo's Wren (bottom left). There are only a few hundred in existence, and only in these surrounding valleys, but identified twice here at La Pacha. Enjoy!
After our relaxing break, La Pacha will reopen on the 1st of March. We've got loads of improvements thanks to the help of all our volunteers. They include a Pizza oven, more benches and swings, a bigger veggie garden, better night-time illumination and a dartboard cabinet. Thanks to Joe, Emma, Kenneth, Eva and Zach!
Thanks to everyone who made New Year's Eve at La Pacha so memorable!
Gracias a todos por su compania tan linda! There's more mangoes than you'll know what to do with! Come and make mango jam, chutney, juice, salad and much more at La Pacha .
